A party of 3 international travellers were seated at one of the many small quaint tables. The decor resembled that of both Thai and Indian, as did the menus. There were 2 other small parties seated but did not disrupt our experience.
Service was immediate and very polite. Beverages were served first and promptly. The wait between entrees and the main course was a little longer than common.
The food was edible but not as refined as I would have liked. Tandoori chicken was a little too burnt. Green Curry seemed watery and lacked substance. Chicken masala did not have as much flavor as most. The garlic naan was delicious, moist and crispy. Mango Lassis were perfect. Saffron rice was light and fluffy.
This place paid close attention to details with respect to the presentation of the food, prompt service, ambiance and environment. This raised my overall score.Lire plus

This place is great, especially because of the location. Its only 2 minutes walk away from St. Clair Subway and is especially good if you work nearby. At lunchtime they never run out of food and everything is very high quality. They have spring rolls as well as pop, water and traditional thai beer. You can eat in or get take-away for only $6.00 which is cheaper than a lot of other places in the area, and excellent for a good amount of really tasty food. I would recommend their crystal noodles and barbecue chicken, but their pad thai is also really good. All in all this place is definitely a 5 star restaurant and I would recommend it to anyone!Lire plus

I have been going to Satay on the Road off and on for the better part of 15 years and have never once in that time had a disappointing meal. The food is always fantastic and despite having tried a myriad of different items I always come away from Satay satisfied. Of particualr note are one of the appetizers and one of the mains. First, the appetizer. Golden Baskets. They should call them by their full name...Golden Baskets of Amazing Tasty-ness with Just the Right Amount of Flavourful Spicy Goodness. I guess there isn't enough room on the menu for that though. These and the spring rolls are the perfect combo to kick off your meal. The second is Cashew Nut Chicken. I still hold Satay on the Road's Cashew Nut Chicken up as the gold standard for this dish. On a recent visit it made me miss Toronto...it is that good! The drinks list is kitschy too...they have their cocktail menu on those paper place-mats that used to be all the rage back in the '70s. Ah nostalgia. Anyway, located in the heart of Bayview Village...the area not the mall...Satay on the Road is a must dine for anyone who loves Thai and Malaysian food!Lire plus
