Jose-Luis Castillo jokes with his clients that had he been raised in a town heavily involved in another industry, he would be doing that instead. He loves what he does today, from dreaming up new designs, to crafting those designs into some of the best silver pieces in the world.
“We are from a small town in central Mexico that is famous for its silver work,” Jose-Luis says. “The economy is based around silver working, be it through mining or crafting jewellery. I started ag silver boutique in 1997 and decided to bring my trade to Calgary in 2006.”
His boutique's dual dragonfly logo – a design Jose-Luis created and makes into silver jewellery – and everything you see at his boutique in The Core is designed, made and manufactured by six Mexican designers, including Jose-Luis and his family.
