Inept and unqualified

My wife was sent to CML's location above for a 20 week ultrasound. I joined her from work but was late and although my wife had explained to the technician that I was coming, at first he wouldn't let me into the room. He only relented after I insisted to come in, at which time I found out the ultrasound was already completed. This technician was male and very condescending to my wife, not answering her questions or addressing anything she had to say. On top of that he found 2 soft markers for a chromosomal abnormality (Down's syndrome or worse), that caused us a great deal of stress. After seeing other doctors and speaking with a genetic counsellor at Women and Children's hospital, it was discovered that the measurement of the nouchal fold (how thick the skin is at the back of the neck) of our unborn child was over estimated by the CML ultrasound technician and that in fact our child had no soft markers for a chromosomal abnormality and by all accounts was completely healthy. We then found out that while most ultrasound techs in the lower mainland take an intensive course from BCIT to become certified, CML's techs do not. They get on the job training from one of their managers. We also found out that measuring the nouchal fold can be quite tricky and that it is no surprise that a tech who does not receive proper training could easily screw it up. So that combined with the way this tech treated us during the ultrasound is why I would recommend that NO ONE get a pregnancy ultrasound at this location. There are plenty of other properly certified ultrasound labs out there that will not cause you 2 months of excessive stress.

Horrible Receptionists

First time I was in I had to get an X-Ray for my feet and that was pretty uneventful and everything went as expected. Second time I never made it in. I was trying to book an ultrasound to find out how far along in pregnancy I was. My GP goofed in how he wrote my referral, but instead of being understanding and try and help me clarify what the GP meant the receptionist turned nasty saying I was "confusing her" and refused to deal with me! I went elsewhere. I'm not putting up with that!
