In 2008, Ash Sharma and Jimmy Arora opened the doors of Global Carpets and Hardwood Ltd. to offer Lower Mainland residents and businesses a superior full-service experience for their carpeting and hardwood needs. Global boasts a 10,000sq. ft. showroom filled with the finest quality and highest value flooring – the widest selection in Vancouver.
Prior to opening Global, the pair had been longtime co-workers at another company in the flooring industry. Based on their combined experience, they recognized a need for a new kind of flooring resource in Vancouver: one with a broader selection, more professional installations and a higher level of customer service.
“We were working together for many years and we wanted to open our own [business] in order to provide customers with a much better selection of carpets, hardware and installation; we wanted to be upfront and offer services with no hidden costs. Essentially, we wanted to be fair to people,” explains Jimmy, who started in the industry as a salesperson in 2001. His business partner Ash has been installing carpets and hardwood floors since 1992.
