Edmonton's top purveyors of poutine

Poutine is the ultimate comfort food - slightly salty cheese curds, hot, crisp fries and thick gravy, piled together in one glorious, fattening heap. Whether poutine is your go-to treat after a night on the town, or the thing you use to get through the next day, poutine done right is always satisfying. These spots offer up authentic poutine, with dashes of Prairie influences sprinkled in. [Image credit: iStock.com/bhofack2]

La Poutine Inc

8720 109 St NW, Edmonton AB T6G 1E9

La vie est belle at La Poutine. With a couple dozen varieties to choose from, this is definitely a favourite spot. With your choice of traditional (vegan), beef or gluten-free gravies, there’s really something for everyone. If you’re hungry, try the meat lover, with loads of ground beef, bacon bits and smoked sausage. For something a little different, try the garden with green peas, sautéed mushrooms and onions.

World's Finest Donair & Pizza

12106 Jasper Ave NW, Edmonton AB T5N 3J8

What else would we recommend here but the donair poutine? The meat slices on the poutine are plentiful and will leave you wanting more. Don’t forget to ask for extra tzatziki and sweet sauce - you won’t regret it.

Three Boars Eatery

8424 109 St NW, Edmonton AB T6G 1E2

This quirky restaurant serves up a few different poutines and the menu changes almost daily, so you’ll never know unless you go. We’ve had the beef brisket poutine, the chicken and peas version, as well as the Swedish meatballs poutine. It’s a fun atmosphere on the weekends and you can’t go wrong with their small plates.

The Common

9910 109 St NW, Edmonton AB T5K 1H5

The Common is one of my favourite joints in town. Gastro-lounge meets comfort food meets funky chef/owner. I love the atmosphere, the staff are awesome and their short rib poutine is divine. The braised short ribs melt in your mouth, which is a perfect combination with the Quebec curds and homemade gravy.

Rockin Robyns Ltd

16604 109 Ave NW, Edmonton AB T5P 1C2

This funky ‘50s style diner is complete with red diner booths, black and white checkered floor tiles and a jukebox at the back. Their food is delicious and plentiful and I really enjoy subbing regular fries with their poutine when I order a sandwich. They do it up and don’t skimp on the food. Yum!

Villa Bistro

11520 100 Ave Nw, Edmonton AB T5K 0J7

This fun joint believes in the freedom of press and the freedom to press delicious sandwiches, the Italian Panini way. They offer a traditional poutine and a pulled pork variation - both are delicious.

Delux Burger Bar

9682 142 St NW, Edmonton AB T5N 4B2

It’s a chic setting with amazing burgers and fries. It’s no wonder their poutines are fun and flavourful. The cowboy introduces “Nathan’s famous hot dog” to cheese curds and gravy fries, while the Italian sees braised meatballs and zesty tomato sauce with fries and cheese curds.

On a cold, snowy Edmonton night, nothing says lovin’ like a cup of hot chocolate. It’s no surprise this drink was originally dubbed the “elixir of the gods.” Regardless of the variety you select, or whether you opt for the simplest hot chocolate on the menu, all I can say is ... don’t forget the marshmallows.
You don’t have to travel to Paris to have a true fine-dining experience; you can enjoy an upscale dinner, complete with a five-course meal and fine wine, right here at home. Victoria is a fine-dining destination with an excellent reputation – where talented chefs enjoy crafting delicious gourmet dishes from fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
Paired with a nice cup of coffee or topped with a scoop of ice cream, pie is unbeatable comfort food. And yet it faces stiff competition from cupcakes as the city’s dessert of choice. Well, pie is fighting back with old fashioned deliciousness as well as new and tantalizing flavours.
