Hiromi’s Music Studio owner Hiromi Takahashi studied with the late Perry W. Bauman and subsequently with the late Marc Lifschey, so he’s had some experience with good teachers. Hiromi not only learned how to play with those instructors, but he learned the methods of becoming a better musician. He began playing the oboe professionally in the early 1970s, and now teaches other music students at his Edmonton studio.

“There is a saying: ‘Listen to the sound music makes.’” says Hiromi, explaining his teaching and playing philosophy.

Hiromi has played around the world and has taught all throughout Canada, including stints at post-secondary institutions in Alberta and Saskatchewan. As a professional musician, he's performed in operas, ballets, symphony orchestras and musical theater. Hiromi’s Music Studio teaches students how to read music and rhythm, and encourages them to avoid errors of the “this-is-how-I-hear-it” concept. Rather, Hiromi shows students a way, or method, to map out and distinguish how music is put together.
