“It’s dangerous to ride without training first,” says Matt Grannis, owner of ProRide Motorcycle Training. “Ninety percent of motorcyclists in an accident didn’t take a course; they were self-taught or taught by friends or relatives.”
Matt believes that professional training certified by the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC) is vital for all motorcyclists as it teaches them how to ride more safely and confidently – and how to react if things do go wrong.
“There’s a huge mental aspect of spotting a problem before it turns into an emergency and taking proactive steps so it doesn’t become an emergency,” says Matt. “We also teach emergency maneuvers such as emergency stopping, stopping in a curve, emergency swerving and accelerating.”
This two-pronged approach gives students at ProRide Motorcycle Training all the tools they need to ride safely in any situation, combining classroom instruction with hands-on experience at the school's extensive North Vancouver facility.
