The hub and I were out and thought we would try Claudio's. We enjoy the quality level of "fine dining" restaurants. The room was nice, dark wood, white linens. Conservative, dated menu, no surprises, nothing exciting, so we thought we should keep it simple with a salad and steak. The California greens (very 80's) were not fresh. Should have sent them back but said nothing as our server was an older man who was arthritic and we didn't have the heart to make him run as he was already having a hard time keeping up. Steak was cooked properly and served with fried potatoes! Fried potatoes!!!!! We did not come to a "fine dining" restaurant for steak and gravey and fried potatoes! aka homefries. At these prices, with the illusion of fine dining, the kitchen needs to step up the game. The flavour was fine, but homefries, really? Would have had dessert, but the ones coming out of the kitchen were about as exciting as fried potatoes.
Visited Claudio's with family last night for our 25th Anniversary dinner. Every detail was perfect from the greeting at the door by the owners/chef, the private table, the attentive service and last but not least, the amazing food. Some really nice touches such as bringing out a few bottles of recommended wines for us to choose from. Our waiter, Ignatio suggested that he bring out a tasting plate of chef Kristina's beef shortrib stuffed ravioli for all of us to try. Great suggestion! It was one of the tastiest raviolis I have eaten. We all thoroughly enjoyed the food, wine and overrall dining experience. I think our family has a new favourite for special and memorable dinners out. We will be back!
Our anniversary dinner at Claudio's was definitely worth the drive from Kitchener. The staff at Claudio's goes the "extra mile" to make us feel like valued customers. We felt like regulars, although it was our first visit to Claudio's. Especially enjoyed it when Kristine (the head chef) came over to our table to introduce herself, then provided us each a small "liqueur" as an anniversary token. It made our evening very special. Planning our return visit already.
We recently went as a large group for a birthday party. Kristine prepared a beautiful menu for us and everyone had a great time. The private room was tastefully decorated and the service was spectacular as usual. Looking forward to the next occasion at Claudio's.
I visited Claudio’s last Friday with a party of 5 guys. We were seated in the centre of the restaurant and greeted by our server promptly. We were there from 8pm to after midnight, not because service was slow, but because we were having such a great time. The staff, Claudio, Nick, Marcello etc were AWESOME. The appetizers included the antipasto platter, bruschetta and the relish tray. We ordered filet mignon, zuppa di pesce for two and the grilled seafood platter for two. Everything was excellent. The restaurant is pricey, but it is well worth it! I highly recommend Claudio’s for your next fine dining experience. A+!
