We all ordered the all you can eat buffet of course! Wide variety of chinese food as well as Canadian cuisine and a salad bar and a yummy dessert bar. Golden Dragon cannot be beaten for their egg rolls. Best in the Sault.
Was in town for the holidays, and since most of our favourite restaurants were not open for dinner on this day, and we were craving Chinese, we tried to push aside the bad reviews we'd heard and went to the Golden Dragon. I grew up in Sault Ste Marie, so I've been through the times of this restaurant being amazing, and heard about/been there when it went super downhill. The place looks pretty old inside - I think the dim light, red carpet?/walls/accents? lead to the dinginess, but it wasn't per se dirty, just dark and heavy feeling where we were sitting - in the dining room beside the buffet, not in the same room as the buffet. It was packed on the date and at the time we went (around 6 PM). New/fresh/hot food was being constantly replaced due to the volume of people, therefore the food was ok to good and why I've given an overall 4 out of 10. I actually liked the soups, egg rolls/fried wontons/chicken balls, fried rice, vegetables and chop suey. These tasted good. Also the banana cream pie and coffee were good. Our server was nice enough, but not helpful at all. The biggest disappointment, and why I probably won't go back is the ladies/hostesses/owners at the door (older ladies who told us they are the owners). When I asked our waitress if they have a seniors rate (as I went with 2 ladies waaaaaaay past the seniors age - ages 72 and 94), she said she'd check with the owners. They refused to give one, so I went to the front, and asked them myself. They proceeded to loudly yell at me, in front of the customers waiting and the ones seated near there, and inform how it's a buffet, same price no matter how much you eat. I understand this (this is by far, not my first time at a buffet, lol!), but come on, what kind of place doesn't have a children & seniors rate? AND, is it necessary to yell at me - I'm not joking, she lost her mind, rapidly yelling the same thing over and over "same price, same price, no matter what you eat". Unbelievable, and uncalled for!
Not many selections as i thought.Foods not great at all. The place was dirty and stuffy .Dont't understand why people still eat there just maybe they are addicted to their spell (Msg).Got dizzy eating there and don't feel well that night.Will not return.
long time ago use to be good but now is terrible.Went there 2 times in 3 month.Our family did not enjoy it at all.The foods are very dry and had funny taste to it.Sorry,we will not be back after we told the manager about the foods.he just don't care and very rude.
