Plus Amazing views of Toronto The waiter that was servicing us was excellent Nice bread and dip DOWN ALL the dishes that we ordered had deep fried and extremely oily leaves and vegetables that ruined our palette The worst pasta I ever had in a good restaurant. It is written as risoni rissoto - in fact its an orzo dish. It was coked so much that its texture was like eating a soup. The portion of the risoni rissoto was less than a portion of a starter.
If you're looking for fine dining with great service and a relaxing atmosphere in Toronto, you'll need to look up to the sky and search for Canoe. Food: The menu is simple yet it's high quality and well prepared dishes with great wine and drinks pairing. We decided to go with an app, an entree, and dessert - although the dishes didn't surprise us, they still met our expectations of high quality. The real treats were the Oyster Boy's Finest and Pan Seared Quebec Foie Gras, each being a great start to our meal. Although it was great, it didn't end with a bang. The meal kept its pace right through to dessert. Service: The wait staff were very attentive and accomodating. Our server was attentive to our needs, and was engaged without being too involved in our dining experience. I was impressed by the service from everyone this evening! Atmosphere: I would definitely recommend trying to reserve a table by the window. The place is beautiful with the simple and modern decor, though the view of the city is an added bonus to your meal. It's definitely worth the visit if you're looking to dine in the sky with a great meal, but be prepared to empty out your wallet, because this place isn't cheap.
This was my second time visiting Canoe, and though my first visit was to die for, this occasion didn't quite measure up. My friend and I both had the salad to start, which was good. I had a nice strawberry lemonade which didnt blow me away in the same way that my lemonade with chili peppers did, but was decent. My friend had a shandy, which she did not like and switched for sangria, which she adored. We both had the chicken, which was wonderful and dessert was good as well. I will maybe try again in the winter, perhaps they just offer a better menu at that time. The view was lovely, but the place where we were seated on my first visit was nicer. I requested a window seat which the staff procured. Overall, a nice visit.
My girlfriend want to come here for summerlious but told me how hard it was to book reservations. I called in 3 times to finally get to someone on the line. But after getting there i know why there was such a hassle to get a reservation. The food was excellent the first time I tried Steak medium rare from Calgary (they actually ship it), i have it on my display picture. scallops were interesting my girlfriend had pouched tuna very good, and her dessert lets just say i eat her tart. Their bread and humus was great as well. Service was wonderful they are always making sure you have everything and the chef treat you sooo well. You get a great view of Toronto and Center Island. Perfect dinner date
Very hip atmosphere, annoying beating music (couldn'd make it out), loud chatter, excellent view, young business buzz, very happening (whatever that means). Sorry but the food was good but not the main reason to go there. Great presentation but not outstanding flavours.
What an experience! Canoe gets amazing ratings for a reason. I booked a table for two for summerlicious and it was superb. The menu was a little limited but that’s expected with summerlicious. The wait staff are simply amazing there, extremely helpful, all meals explained as they’re brought out, tables prepped properly, cleared properly. They come across very friendly and not pretentious at all. The food itself was perfect, my girlfriend and I had the beef tenderloin and it was cooked perfectly and was delicious. I had some cheese for dessert, and she had a rhubarb tart, also delicious. This is truly a fine dinning experience, it is definitely worth the money!
Will start with the pros: Beautiful atmosphere and breathtaking view of the city as a backdrop (we were lucky enough to get a window seat). Excellent, knowledgable, non-snooty and attentive service. The cons: The food itself was only so-so (for fine dining, that is). It was good, don't get me wrong--but I certainly didn't feel like it was worth the money we paid for it. It just wasn't to die for...
We had the tasting menu, it was very good, I thoroughly enjoyed every course. The food tasted fresh and the service was excellent. Next time, we will definitely have the meal paired with some wine.
My friend and I visited Canoe to try the winterlicious 2010 menu at Canoe. We were really excited and Canoe met and exceeded all our expectations. We rode the elevator up the TD Tower and were greeted warmly by Canoe staff. We were seated right next to the window and the view was unbelievable. Ive eaten at the 360 restaurant and somehow this was even better. The service was prompt but our server's english wasn't very good so there was no opportunity to get chatty. The atmosphere was a little intimidating and I felt underdressed, though it was only lunch. People around us were wearing suits and everyone else looked like they were there only for winterlicious. The food was incredible, the flavours are so innovative and mouth watering. Ive never eaten food like this before. I was a little anxious, not sure if I would like what I ordered, but all the tastes melded perfectly. My companions food was great too. I was served a wonderful beverage which I selected off the menu which was lemonaid with chilli and peppers in it. It didnt sound appetizing but it was fantastic and months later I am still thinking about it. All the hype surrounding Canoe is merited, its amazing and I hope to bring a new friend to experience Canoe for Summerlicious.
It wasn't my first time but I am happy to report that the food and service at Canoe is the city's best still. The food is delicious and is extree;ly well balanced. The portion is just right and the service is just what it should be for a world class dining establishment. I suggest the chrf's recommended four course meal.
We skipped the menu and ordered off-menu specialties read french fries, herbed chicken wings and buffalo canoe dip and we werr in heaven. Boy you havent had wings untill you wolf on them at canoe bar
Tues Jan 13/09 went before the leafs game, and because I worked for them we got the vip treatment. We got extra appetizers, met the Chef de cuisine, Anthony Walsh was not there. The service impecable and my birthday was that weekend so they made a berry and chocolate plate with 10yr Muscat dessert wine. We didn't want to go to the game we just wanted to hang out at the bar which was lively. My girlfriend had a great time and can't wait to go again.
This was my 30th time here and was there with many friends. We go to Canoe for the wings. They have the best wings in town (wings are soo 'in' right now). Ignore the 7 course meal and venison and ask for special brier je ne sais qua fine herb tender sage wings.
I am surprised to see so few reviews for this awesome restaurant. I understand it's fancy and expensive usually, however, after spending 6 hours calling on 1st day of Summerlicious reservation, I finally got a lunch at 2 pm We arrived at 1:45 and were seated right away at a window seat with great view (+1), impressed with the interior decoration, attentive waiters, and the exterior aerial view. With 4 of us, we ordered everything from the Summerlicious menu to share. Appetizers: Salad was fresh and healthy, cold soup was a surprise, and I liked the shrimp the best Entrees: White bass in green source!! it looked pretty though, I liked the Ricotta and white bass over the chicken Desserts: Lemon tarts with Blueberry sorbet is great (and sour), chocolate is thick and very sweet with ice cream Service: Awesome head waiter, taking pictures of us (and knows how to use a DSLR oh my), funny and attentive This is absolutely what fine dining should be, everything is memorable. Big tips for a wonderful lunch I can't wait to come back next year for Summerlicious 2009
Great view - we sat near the window. The service was great, the waiters were polite and attentive. Food was presented nicely but wasn't too fond of the chocolate dessert.
The most underwhelming dining experience in recent memory considering the cost of the meal for five, including wine, was in the order of $800.00. Our previous visits were much, much better and hence our son decided to celebrate his birthday there. The description for the Classics Tasting Menu alluded to a gourmet dining experience based on dishes that the Restaurant has had tremendous success with. Unfortunately, the food was bland and lacked the flavours that are expected from a restaurant of this calibre. To make matters worse, the waiter attending to our table, knowing in advance that we were celebating a birthday, did not provide appropriate or attentive service, having us wait prolonged periods of time for drinks and to have our water and bread replinished. This restaurant has a stellar location which requires serious attention to food and sevice in order to provide an exquisite and memorable dining experience. Unfortunately, this family meal was a complete bust.
I have enjoyed going to the bar at Canoe for drinks so when I wanted to entertain some out of town relatives, I thought of the restaurant at Canoe for its spectacular views. Three of us ordered the Gnocchi which was melt in your mouth superb, the Canoe Plate is truly a work of art. As for our main courses, mouth watering divine!!! Service is exceptional, attentive and informative. When your waiter tells you that the chef suggests meat cooked a certain way, have faith, he's right. Great Wine selection too. This is a hidden (on the 54th floor of a commercial tower) jewel well worth visiting.
Awesome view - 54 floor of TD Bank building. Food is very good, and very different than most places. I had bison which i didnt like as much as steak but its much healthier and was very good. Great wine list, friendly staff and female sommelier as well. They make great martini's as well
